Kompany: We're better than United - in EVERY department
Vincent Kompany reckons Manchester City are superior to rivals Manchester United in EVERY department.
But the Blue Moonies skipper is warning his team-mates and fans that a wounded United side is still a very dangerous beast.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s Red Devils have suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats, at Blackburn last weekend and Newcastle on Wednesday.
And, of course, their noisy neighbours beat them 2-1 at Wembley in one of last season’s FA Cup semi-finals and then hammered them 6-1 in the league at Old Trafford earlier in this campaign.
Kompany said: “Now City are superior to United in each of the lines but we do not want any surprises in this match and we need to play with our heads.
“They will be very motivated for this game and their objective will be revenge – and that makes Manchester United more dangerous than ever.
“A match against United in these circumstances is the match of the year.
“It’s life or death in the FA Cup and we want to repeat our victory last season.
“A derby requires us to give our biggest effort because we are in the game for many things but, principally, for the pride of our supporters.
“After the victory at Old Trafford, many people consider us as favourites but even though our last memories against United are positive that does not guarantee a victory this time.”
The mauling of United on their own turf is a memory that will live for ever among those who were inside Old Trafford –and not least the City heroes out on the field.
Kompany added: “The victory at Old Trafford was one of the best moments of my life. It was historical and for many years people will talk about that day.
“To be part of that day was a huge motivation.
“I could see people in the ground going crazy. It was incredible, magnificent.
“Now I want another festival this time but I warn our fans it will be complicated and very tactical.
“City are the team to beat now, whereas before it was United or Chelsea.”
