Vargas aware of poor form

Chile international Eduardo Vargas admitted his career at Serie A club Napoli has not started positively.

Vargas arrived in southern Italy at the beginning of 2012 following a spectacular year with Universidad de Chile.

The forward caught the attention of the football world as his skills helped the Chilean giants to back-to-back titles in 2011, as well as finishing top scorer in their winning Copa Sudamericana campaign.

The 22-year-old has barely played since moving across the Atlantic Ocean, however, and in his rare appearances has looked a shadow of the player he was in Santiago.

Vargas recognised that adapting to Italian football had not been an easy transition, but he trusted his companions to help him reach his best.

"Here the football is very different, they do not give you as much space and the biggest change is the extra physicality. I have struggled to get used to it, but I have complete support from my team-mates," Vargas told Chilean television outlet TVN.

"Something that has played in my favour is the presence of so many South Americans. They explain to me the things I do not understand (in Italian) and they tell me what the trainer is talking about."

Vargas was an unused substitute in Napoli's 0-0 draw with AC Milan last Sunday.
